menu planning
Today is the menu link up at the Sisterhoood! You might get a little bored, food-wise, if you visited my house for breakfast or lunch. I tend to have the same thing day in and day out: breakfast is steel-cut oats with some kind of fruit and too much coffee. Lunch is a huge salad and a smallish bowl of soup. Predictability is good
So I see no need to recap all that here again. On the supper menu this week:
Sunday –leftover pasta from last night (pizza night fell through due to a baking disaster)
Monday - Pancake Night –sweet potato pancakes again, with sliced & baked apples and cinnamon for a topping
Tuesday –pea and potato soup
Wednesday – leftover soup
Thursday – stir fry with lots of veg, brown rice, and a simple sauce, maybe tofu if it’s a hollow day
Friday - falafel with homemade pitas and a green veg
Saturday –spaghetti and lentil meatballs (courtesy of MamaPea)
The big news on our menu is that, for now, Pizza Night is a thing of the past. J and I don’t really care, and I’d like to develop slightly healthier expectations in the kids. Last night’s pasta (whole grain penne, doctored-up sauce, mushrooms, and chickpeas, with a sprinkling of nutritional yeast) got rave reviews all around. In a way that even pizza never does. So we’re going to try Pasta Weekends instead, in which I make enough for leftovers on Sunday, have extra time to play with my kids, and get the warm fuzzy inner glow of knowing I’m helping them develop healthy habits.

Interesting that there was no riot when you decided to replace pizza night with pasta night! My kids would revolt. ;p
Well, I am a kick ass cook
